A new centralised system which gives GPs better, faster access to test results is now live in North London.

The new digital platform is designed to give around 7,000 clinicians across North Central London (NCL) Integrated Care Board (ICB) faster and more comprehensive access to pathology results.
Dr Ehsan Alkizwini, a GP at West Hampstead Medical Centre said:

“The ability to access and review near real-time aggregated results through a single, intuitive, and user-friendly platform has proven to be highly valuable.

“The inclusion of in-context single sign-on functionality ensures seamless and secure access to the relevant patient, while the integration of existing software systems and well-structured data enables consistency and efficiency across workflows.

“Furthermore, the platform’s capability to support looking at trends, alongside providing visibility of historical results, enhances informed decision-making and strategic oversight.

“Equally important is the flexibility to export and re-import data into internal systems as required, ensuring continuity and adaptability within existing processes. Collectively, these features contribute to a streamlined, efficient, and highly effective user experience.”

John Rickett, ICT Programme Manager at Health Services Laboratories, led the project and said:

“I’m delighted to see that the ability to view orders and results from across NCL in one place has highlighted variations in service, and is supporting harmonisation and demand management initiatives such as ‘Right Test, Right Time’ aimed at further improving patient care.”
